“And I’m out of your range Now it’s kind of strange How we change orbit in our lives You were kind of a moon outside of my room I could just feel you nearby Now I feel you gone ‘Cause I know which side you’re on And it’s not mine.”

Quite possibly my favorite anything of his.
This acoustic version is WAY better than
the full band recording on Mean Everything to Nothing.

“light of my thursdays.”

Kids are the light of my life.  One little nugget in particular has stolen my heart for sure.  My dear friend Alyssa Giguere nanny’s for a family with a two-and-a-half-year-old girl and a newly crawling little brother.  This past January, Alyssa and I discovered that we were a good match for each other - she wanted to put big sister Chloe in gymnastics but thought she would NEVER listen or participate, and I taught a gymnastics class for 2 1/2 year olds where the whole goal is to teach them to listen and participate.  A few weeks later, Chloe was introduced to me as “Coach Teddy” - the latter part being a nickname I have had since my early years of gymnastics and too many teammates with a first name similar to mine.
In the past 3 or so months, little Chloe has blossomed from a shy, quiet, I-don’t-want-to-try-anything-new kinda kid into the one who now shouts her answers to my And what’s this jump called? gymnastics questions.  She’s a doll, for sure.  And the best part is that I get to see Alyssa on Thursday mornings at 10 as we laugh over this little creation.
So yesterday (Alyssa tells me) Chloe wanted to make a video for Coach Teddy.  I don’t know what I like better about it, the adorable high-pitched munchkin, or the adorable amazing grown up!

I love Christie! I wish we had gotten to know each other a little better sooner, as we both only have a couple months left in Oceanside. I’m going to miss her and I’m definitely going to miss Thursday gymnastics at the YMCA. She’s done so much to help Chloe come out of her shell and has helped stretch her imagination like you wouldn’t believe. Who knew 45 minutes a week could impact a toddler as much as it has Chloe?
